La Hospederia Del Monasterio

We’d driven a long way from France and hoped for a quiet night, but the Saturday parties in the hotel were VERY loud, with noise carrying through the walls. We didn’t get peace until 3 in the morning. If we’d known, we would have stayed somewhere else. The room also had an outside entrance, and parking may be a problem when the hotel is busy. We couldn’t eat there because it was too crowded, and getting a drink at the bar wasn’t a great experience, so we walked into the very nice town centre to find a café. Breakfast was good, freshly cooked by a friendly staff member. I’d avoid hotels on weekends in December or at Easter.

After a long drive, we arrived late in the day and were given a warm welcome at Hospedería del Monesterio. It sits right beside the university buildings, high above Osuna, and makes a lovely place to stay. From up there, the old town feels steeped in history, with the beautiful University and Collegiate church looking out over it. We only stayed overnight, but the bullring, used for some Game of Thrones filming, caught our interest. We’d like to come back for a longer visit.

The pool area looks amazing, but the place didn’t live up to expectations. The rooms were plainly dirty and cleaning seemed poor. There were little black bits and dead insects in the pool, mosquito larvae in the garden drains, and small white insects bit us in the room. I guess that may be why it’s so cheap.

A really peaceful, friendly place, and I loved staying here. The restaurant was good, and breakfast was very good too, just 4 Euros per person. Special thanks to Himma and Adriano for such great service. I highly recommend it.
