The beds were the one thing I didn’t like. The mattress was hard, and as a side sleeper I kept waking up restless. I only found out at checkout that mattress toppers are available, so ask when you check in. We had no trouble with ants, and the room was just right for a couple. The pool area was windy, but it was January. For €550 for two people for a week in the January off-season, this four-star all-inclusive was what we expected. Food wasn’t as bad as some reviews say, and the choices changed nightly. We only found one night disappointing. Food under the lamps was tepid, though I can see it might dry out if heated more. Service from nearly everyone was good, and drinks and cocktails were good too. We wanted a quiet, romantic week and didn’t feel the need to leave the hotel. Costa Calma is mostly hotels and quiet, so anyone wanting nightlife, a lively town, or busy restaurants might prefer Corallejo in the north or Morro Jable in the south. We rented a car to see the island, including golf, a quad excursion, volcano hiking, and scenic spots.

Staff talked to us like people, not just as part of their job, and we ended up making friends with them and some older couples. We were by far the youngest couple there that season. The hotel looks even better than the photos, with clean, aesthetic rooms, lovely views, and a great pool. There are plenty of drinks at the bars from 10am-11pm, served in generous portions. Meals are available 7-10, 1-3, and 7-9:30, with different options each day that were really nice. Breakfast was the weakest meal, but still good. I wish there were more meat choices. Sausages are my favourite part of breakfast, and these were hot dog sausages. Everything else was amazing. The place and the stay were 10/10, and I’ve already recommended it to family and friends. Couldn’t ask for more!!! Also, there are so many cute cats around the hotel.

For the price, this is a brilliant place. We just wanted a quiet, relaxed week in the sun with good food and drinks, and that’s exactly what we got. We’d both happily come back next winter, even though there are areas that could use a higher standard. We’ve stayed at all-inclusive hotels in several countries, some costing nearly twice as much, and this one did the job nicely. The food was good, with more than enough options, though not the huge range you’d find at some hotels. There was always a good salad and vegetable selection for anyone who doesn’t eat much meat. The red and white wine and mojitos were good, and the drinks were probably the nicest we’ve had at a hotel around this price. Our bed was very comfortable, the room was cleaned regularly, and everything worked. Some smaller areas felt a bit tired, but the important parts were clean and the food was well cooked. There was no evening entertainment, which suited us. It’s a fairly breezy island, but the balcony is sheltered enough if the wind bothers you. There are a few small shops 2 minutes away and bigger ones a 15-minute walk away. The beach is 15-20 minutes on foot. Parking is free around the hotel, with a small free car park across the road. The hotel seemed very wheelchair friendly, with lots of ramps. 😍 ALL GOOD 🤩 If you expect a five-star place, you’ll need to spend more.

This place works well for a restful break. It’s quiet, with no parties or loud activities, and most guests are older. If you’re after nightlife and entertainment, you may want to look elsewhere. But if a peaceful atmosphere matters most, it’s worth considering. There were always free sunbeds by the pool, which was a real plus. Rooms were spacious, clean, and well looked after, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Lunch and dinner were really good, while breakfast could be better. The food is standard for Spanish hotels.

We traveled around the island and found several beautiful places to explore, but Fuerteventura as a whole was underwhelming for us. The roads were excellent, yet many places had abandoned, boarded-up buildings covered in graffiti. Even around beaches and scenic spots, some areas looked unfinished, deserted, or uncared for. We’ve visited most of the Canaries, and this is our least favourite. We won’t return. Lanzarote, Tenerife, and Gran Caneria offer much better options, in our view. We stayed 11 nights at Taimar Hotel and came away disappointed. The hotel is clean and easy to get around, the rooms closely match their photos and descriptions, and the staff are friendly and work hard to make guests’ holidays special. It’s quiet and peaceful. Those were the good parts. The location is isolated in a very quiet resort with very few bars, restaurants, or shops. Costa Calma is full of all-inclusive hotels, so most visitors stay in their own hotels. The resort feels tired and rundown, with dilapidated and even demolished buildings. The nearby beach also seemed neglected, with broken windbreaks and umbrellas in the sunbathing area. There were free public toilets, a few small council-run bars, and beds at only a few hotels, with little to no beach or water activities. The all-inclusive food was repetitive, often tepid or cold, and aimed at European tastes. Once something ran out, it was gone, so getting to the front of the queue mattered. There were very few English guests, which wasn’t a problem in itself, but some food choices didn’t suit English tastes. The dining room is open to the elements, probably pleasant in summer, but in the off-season it was like a wind tunnel. Despite the many heaters, it was cold, and you’ll need a coat. There’s no comfortable lounge for evenings, so you either stay at your dining table or go back to your room. There’s no entertainment at any time of year, and with few places to go nearby, it’s very quiet after dinner. Most people took a drink back to their rooms. The little ants mentioned in other reviews were all over our room. They got everywhere and were annoying, especially when I found them crawling on me as I slept. We rented a car from Cicar at the main shopping centre, which was much better value than the hotel’s offer. The shopping centre itself also felt tired and uncared for. We ate out for lunch most days, which wasn’t ideal on an all-inclusive holiday, but we needed a break from the dull, tasteless hotel food. I don’t think the reviews I read before we arrived were harsh, they were spot on. I don’t think Jet2 chose well with this hotel. It misses the mark by a long way. I think its four-star rating comes from being accessible for people with mobility issues, rather than the usual hotel offerings like food, entertainment, location, or amenities. Overall, a disappointing stay.
