Casa Bolboreta

The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, and at night it was quiet except for the crickets. I only stayed one night, but was glad I did. It's in Casanova, about 5km farther than staying in Palas de rei, though they offer pickup if you don't want to walk the 20 minutes. If you've stayed at an agriturismo in Italy, you'll get why this place feels special. The food was some of the best I've had, even beyond the Camino. Since I only had 9km to walk the next day, Pila (I hope I spelled your name correctly) suggested a castle and a waterfall/hiking spot off the Camino route. That ended up being my favorite part of the whole trip.

They welcomed us like friends in their home, and the food was impressive. The hosts were so kind, smiling, and ready to help, including taking care of allergies for a couple of people in our group. Very happy with the visit, and I'd come back. A place worth visiting for an evening even if you're not walking the Camino.

The food was top notch, thanks to Lewis. We had tahini coated tempura style aubergine and fresh homemade pasta with local herbs and cheese, fantastic even for someone like me who isn't vegetarian. It's about 1km off the Camino, but well worth the detour. Good value, with clean, well appointed rooms.

You'll need pickup from Casanova if you're walking the Camino, since this is off the trail. Bring snacks too, as there aren't any stores nearby. The hospitality was great, and it was a quiet place to spend the night, with the feel of a mountain chalet.
