The food was really good.

I stayed for two days, and both times the cleaning staff came into my room at 10 a.m. saying they didn't know anyone was staying there. The rooms have no soundproofing at all, so you hear everything from next door. While the staff were cleaning, the people next to me were talking loudly, and I could hear them all through the hostel. The heating stayed on all night with no way to switch it off, so between the heat and the noise I couldn't sleep. The receptionist leaves at 4 p.m., and if anything happens after that, you have to call a phone. The service is awful. I've never stayed in such a bad hostel, and I wouldn't go back for anything.

I spent several nights a month at Hostal Alda for work over the course of a year, and I remember it very fondly. I've since moved from Palencia to Cádiz, where I don't need heating, but the room had good heat, a comfortable mattress, a TV, and a small desk. It was very clean, and parking in the area was easy. Absolutely recommended for the great value.

The breakfast was fantastic, and I'd definitely book it again if I returned. The waiters were incredibly friendly, and the hotel staff were wonderful. The location is unbeatable. There's secure public parking about a 10-minute walk away, and it cost €3 for two days and two nights.
