Hotel Ilusion Calma & Spa

The staff were great: kind, friendly, and willing to go out of their way. The inside looked recently refurbished, with a new lift, a nice lounge by the bar for drinks, and a spacious, refurbished room on floor 3, 308. It's a decent spot for the airport, beaches, and central Can Pastilla. The rest was often pretty average. It's not on the seafront, and there are no seafront-facing rooms. I'd avoid a poolside room because you can hear everything at night. There's no soundproofing, so privacy is limited. The entertainment team were good, and the Sunday live band and Wednesday singer were great, but the disco music was always the same and the program had little variety. The room had dents and cracks in the walls and ceiling despite the refurbishment. The curtains looked worn and needed cleaning. Beds were too firm. The bathroom was mostly clean, but cleaning product was smeared on the taps, the soap dispensers looked grubby and needed new tops, and the shower showed usual wear. The toilet was clean. The sunbed I used on day 3 of 7 was unkempt. The lounge chairs need replacing or a deep clean. I skipped the pool and spa. Food was very repetitive and average at best. Breakfast was bang average, and lunch and dinner were largely the same, so it got boring. If I weren't all-inclusive, I'd have eaten lunch or dinner elsewhere. The buffet food was batch-cooked, and the wine was poor. Coffee and cold drink machines were switched off nearly an hour before breakfast and lunch ended on several days; I think they should be turned off when service ends. The drinks weren't great either. Canteen coffee was disgusting, Cava awful, wine poor, and beer like cheap San Miguel. Gin was decent. Rooms are clean overall but not maintained, and you have to hire things like a safe, pool towels, kettle, iron, or cot. Staff respected the keep-out sign. This is a get-what-you-pay-for hotel and isn't worthy of five stars. I'd give it 3.5 if I could, but too many things were lacklustre to give it four. I'd stay again if my preferred hotels weren't available, but don't take the five-star reviews as gospel. Keep in mind the repetitive food, poor drinks, and lack of privacy from room noise.

My mother is 90, and the staff always treat her like royalty. We just got back from a month at Calma Hotel, where we've stayed many times, and they make us feel like family. The rooms are great and cleaned every day. The food has lots of variety and something for everyone, including special diets if you let them know. The bar and reception teams are always friendly. The Wellness area is lovely for relaxing, and you can book treatments. A wonderful hotel. Thank you all.

We had five all-inclusive nights over October half term. It's a nice little hotel with amazing staff, very clean, and plenty of sunbeds. The entertainment was good, and there's a lovely beach a five-minute walk away. The airport is five minutes by taxi, so you should expect plane noise, though you get used to it. There was a range of food, with French, German, Spanish, and English options, so you can try different cuisines. There's also a lovely little spa and gym. Extremely impressive for a three-star hotel.

We had a really relaxing week and would definitely return. The room was clean, the food excellent, and the staff very friendly. Prices were reasonable, and the location worked well: about five minutes on foot to the beach and to a bus into Palma. There were plenty of places to eat nearby.
