Palma Suites Aparthotel

We were on the fifth floor, and I think the staff rooms are on the sixth. Doors kept banging through the day and even late at night, which was really disruptive. At the price of a four-star hotel, I expected staff to be more considerate of noise and guests’ comfort. It was just annoying.

The pool was a bit disappointing. It’s on the roof, but so small you can’t really swim, though it’s nice for a quick cool dip. The hotel itself is in a quiet part of town, close to the Cathedral, shops, restaurants, and bars. We had a fantastic long weekend in the apartment. The kitchen was well equipped, with washing-up liquid and tea towels provided, and the in-room toiletries were lovely. Breakfast was superb and the front office team were friendly. The cleaners didn’t seem quite as good as the rest of the team, though they weren’t bad. We’d come back.

The location is central, the apartment concept is unusual, and the interior is stylish. Staff were exceptionally friendly, and the rooftop was a nice place to read and relax. Still, the apartment didn’t meet my expectations for €1,600 a week. I’d emailed beforehand to ask for a spacious apartment with a dedicated workspace, but apartment 209 had only a kitchen table in an open-plan room. It was dark all day and there was no separate desk, so it wasn’t suitable for video calls or focused work. Street noise came straight in, especially on the second floor. A higher room or one farther from the street would work better for someone trying to work. The floor was dirty when I arrived and still dirty after I asked for it to be cleaned. You could tell if you walked around in white socks. The bathroom is right beside the bed, so its light disturbed anyone sleeping early in the morning or at night. There was also an unpleasant drain smell, probably because the ventilation only works when the light is on. I sent feedback by email before posting this. They replied kindly and said they’d pass it to the right departments, but didn’t offer anything to make it right.

A lovely hotel at a wonderful location, with tastefully decorated interiors, nice rooms, and very friendly, welcoming staff. The rooftop terrace and plunge pool are a plus, and the gym is fine for a light workout. It’s a solid four-star stay at a very reasonable price. Our street-facing room was a little noisy, with people outside late into the night. On our last night, the room wasn’t properly serviced: towels were still strewn around and it hadn’t been fully reset or cleaned. The lovely body moisturizer also wasn’t replenished during our four-night stay.
