Apartamentos Beach & Golf Resort

The pool deserves five stars, and the hotel is in a great spot, just two minutes from the beach. The rooms, though, were in poor condition and very basic for a four-star place. There wasn’t a kettle or complimentary coffee and tea, a first for me in a hotel anywhere in the world. The air conditioning didn’t work properly, and apparently there’s no in-house maintenance. Breakfast was okay, with some options for those of us who don’t eat pork. The staff were friendly enough and helpful, even though some didn’t speak English.

We had a miserable stay. The air conditioning didn’t work, and although they first promised to move us to another room, they never did. The food was mediocre. This resort is very overrated, three stars at best and honestly comparable to some two-star hotels.

The golf course was the one good part: a nice course with friendly staff. The hotel itself is run down. At € 338,- a night, the room price makes you expect luxury, but it doesn’t live up to the four stars on the building. The room and bathroom are old, and the air conditioning is very noisy. At reception, staff focus on the computer in the back room and don’t notice guests waiting. They also gave us no information at check-in about the hotel restaurants or anything else. Housekeeping arrived after 4 pm on four out of our five days, even though we were out by 10.30am each day. Ridiculous. The pool sunbeds are old and worn, and while some staff are friendly, many seem annoyed by guests. We definitely won’t return.

Breakfast was great, and we also tried the Thursday night dinner buffet. The food was very good, though pretty pricey, and there was lovely live music. I’d do it again despite the cost. It’s a quiet resort, apart from hearing loud neighbors through the walls now and then. That never lasted long. The bed was comfortable and the shower pressure was good. Poolside lounging was relaxing, with plenty of chairs and shade under the umbrellas. The beach is sandy, tranquil, and has lovely water, with easy access from the resort. Having to pay for beach chairs and an umbrella stings when you’re already paying a resort fee, but it was worth it. The staff are friendly and try to make your stay pleasant. We’d go back.
