Alda Centro Pamplona

After a long pilgrimage walk, having a private bathroom and hot water was a real treat. Breakfast was plentiful, with ham, cheese, sausage, Spanish omelette, several kinds of bread, orange juice, and yogurt. The service was extremely friendly and efficient. The hotel sits in a quiet corner by a park, still close to the old city.

For the price, this was very good value, around 4-5 stars. There was some noise from other rooms, and breakfast was okay apart from the coffee. The beds in our room were a little short for anyone over 180 cm. They also kept sliding apart; they could have been fastened together.

It has a great feel to it, and the rooms offer excellent city views and good bathroom facilities. The hotel is on the edge of the old town, near the start of the Route of the Bulls, with plenty of good places to eat and a lovely park within walking distance. Both the train station and bus station are about a 20-minute walk away.

We had a wonderful view of the mountains at sunset from the fifth floor. The hotel has a lot going for it: friendly, helpful staff, an excellent buffet breakfast, and very good Wi-Fi. At €80 a night for a double room with an en-suite, the price is great value. It's at the quiet end of Pamplona's old town. The rooms and facilities feel less slick and modern than many hotels, more "shabby chic," and the elevator next to our room kept us awake both mornings with its clangs and beeps from 6.30am. Rooms ending in zero, 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50, are likely to have that problem. Still a little rough around the edges, but I'd happily book again.
