Such a peaceful place, with breathtaking views over the Miño river and lovely church bells in the distance. The country house is furnished to a very high standard, and there are plenty of breakfast supplies. You can cook for yourself or head out to the many wonderful restaurants and tavernas. There’s lots to see and do, and the locals are so friendly. We’ll definitely be back.

We felt cheated and the whole experience was awful. I booked through Booking.com on November 8, 2024, for two nights, November 30 to December 2, and the reservation was confirmed. I paid in advance on November 23 and received confirmation messages. On November 29, the owner asked what time we’d arrive, and I replied. When we were ten minutes from the house, I contacted her to arrange a meeting point because, as she’d explained in a Booking.com message, GPS didn’t take you there easily. She said in English that she didn’t speak Spanish and could only communicate on WhatsApp. I messaged her there, and she then told me I had no reservation and that the booking was closed. I was shocked and left stranded. Thank goodness Booking.com stepped in. They processed a refund and gave me a €70 allowance to make another reservation for the same dates, since booking that day would obviously cost more. The owner is irresponsible. If you run a business in Spain, you should know how to speak Spanish to manage it properly. I’ve also read Google reviews saying this has happened before, so I wouldn’t book or rent this house. If you’re coming from outside Galicia, you could arrive with nowhere to stay. I was lucky to be from Galicia and managed to find somewhere else for those dates. She didn’t seem to care at all.

We were left scrambling late at night in an area with poor cell service, and had to book and pay for somewhere else. I still haven’t received my refund. From what I’ve read in other comments, this has happened before. Booking.com had a similar problem with this house in November but kept listing it. It’s disgraceful of both the owners and Booking.com. I booked through Booking.com from January 31 to February 2, 2025, and paid in advance. The reservation was confirmed, and the owner messaged me there asking for our arrival time because GPS doesn’t take you to the house and the meeting point was a winery. We gave them our time. A few days before, I’d also sent WhatsApp messages with questions and our arrival time, and said we had a two-hour drive, so they knew we’d booked and when we’d arrive. That morning I called the number on the reservation, but nobody answered. When we reached the meeting point, nobody was there. I called again. A woman who didn’t speak Spanish apologized and hung up. On the next call, a man answered rudely and said the house was closed, the owner was sick, and they knew nothing about our reservation or payment. Booking.com told me they were canceling it and would refund me in about 15 days. They said they’d find another place, but I’d have to make and pay for the new booking myself. The person I spoke to said Booking.com couldn’t manage customer reservations.

Awful experience. We booked two nights through Airbnb, the reservation was confirmed, and we were charged in full. A few hours later, the host messaged in the app saying they couldn’t accommodate us because they were sick. They didn’t cancel, stopped replying, and are ignoring us, so we can’t get our money back. Why leave reservations open if you can’t host people? Be careful, this could happen to you. My booking was for September 13-15, 2024.
