Hostal Lesseps

The location is convenient, right by the metro and several bus stops, and the bed was totally okay. My room had practically no daylight because it was tucked into a back alley between two buildings. I couldn’t really get fresh air in either, and the air smelled like fried food, in a bad way. The ceiling fan was very dusty, so I didn’t want to use it. The staff were very friendly, and the room was clean. It was basic, almost like a hospital room in how it was laid out, though I liked having Netflix. The walls were so thin I could hear a lot from the floor and reception. I had my own room and bathroom, and for two nights, it was okay for sleeping and watching Netflix. I wouldn’t want to stay longer since it didn’t have much comfort.

We had a clean room that suited our needs, and the beds were just right for me. I’ve stayed in places where the beds were so hard I woke up sore, so these felt great. The neighborhood around the hostel in the Garcia neighborhood was lovely, with tasty restaurants and charming squares where families sat eating and visiting late into the evening. Our only issue was getting the water temperature right. We had a few showers that were either cold or too hot, but it didn’t bother us much.

The staff at reception were very willing to help and knew the area well. The hotel is well located, with the metro just a two minute walk away. You can walk straight down to Place de Catalonia, though the return is a long uphill walk. Breakfast was available right across the road, and both were good. Booking was smooth and trouble-free. The room and bathroom we shared were small but adequate, and everything was clean.

It’s an older hostel, but quite decent and cool. Our room and bathroom were both a good size, and the room looked out toward the backalley. I’d recommend it if you just need a base for your stay in Barcelona.
