Hostal Drassanes

A great spot for the money, with simple, comfortable rooms that were very clean.

The location is brilliant, and this is a no-frills place, but I'd be wary. I knew it was cheap and had read mixed reviews before booking. When I arrived, nobody was at reception and the hotel hadn't explained how to buzz someone, so I had to call. Once I got through, they gave us a room card, and we found ourselves on the first floor in a room with no windows and constant lift noise outside. The bathroom was okay, but the hairdryer quit after one night. The air conditioning worked on day one, then stopped. The receptionist came to sort it out, but it failed again, and after I messaged the hotel it took forever for someone to come fix it. My bed sagged where the mattress had sunk, and the pillows weren't great either. Now I understand the mixed reviews.

We got good value for money, and I recommend this hostal. The rooms were very clean, and the location was perfect, close to La Bamba street, the beach, and famous sights like Barcelona cathedral and Palau Güell. Public transport is available nearby. I had a stressful moment when there was a problem with the payment method and my reservation got cancelled. Mar at reception helped me quickly and kindly, though, and sorted things out.

The location is central, near Barcelona's best-known landmarks, and I had a really good stay despite having read the bad reviews. It was a very pleasant experience, and I'd absolutely recommend it. The owner was so sweet and always there for us. Our room was cleaned every day, and we got fresh towels and toilet paper daily. Just be careful around the area late at night, as it can feel a little dangerous. Love from Greece.❤️
