Breakfast was a real highlight, with excellent local organic produce. The casa rural is a traditional farmhouse renovated to a high standard, tastefully done without feeling pretentious. It’s a comfortable, relaxed base for exploring the vineyards and monasteries of the Ribeira Sacra countryside.

I’m writing to warn others that I can’t recommend LA CASA RURAL O CANTO DA TERRA. Our booking had been confirmed and paid for, then they messaged to say they had to cancel and would refund us. Their reason was that we couldn’t bring pets, despite the website saying pets were allowed and us paying to bring them. I find that excuse completely unbelievable. They left us stranded, and now I can’t find somewhere to stay for those dates. NEVER AGAIN, as they say. I’m going to complain to the OCU (Spanish Consumer Organization), and I’m also considering contacting the Tourism Office to report what happened.

Luisa and Diego were wonderful hosts, suggesting things to do based on the weather, how long we were staying, and the guests’ ages. We spent a few days there and enjoyed every one of them. The house has a lovely feel, every room had what we needed to be comfortable, and the bed was first-class. Its spot among the vineyards is ideal for enjoying the quiet. We heard from another guest that they’d seen fireflies mating each night, possibly because of all the vineyards in the Ribera Sacra. We’ll be back soon, hopefully with the sunny weather we had this time, though we’ll enjoy it even if it rains. Thank you for a lovely few days.

Easy, quick communication with the owner over WhatsApp, and parking for about 5-6 cars made things very convenient. The house feels solid, and coming in from outdoors, the room had a comfortable temperature. It was clean, with no odd smells, and the bed was more comfortable than mine at home. The location and scenery were lovely.
