Hotel Castillo Bonavia

The hotel and cafeteria teams were lovely, and the food, especially the starters, was outstanding. Our guests from the USA, Venezuela, and Spain all enjoyed being part of the day. My daughter had the wedding she’d dreamed of on August 16 last year, and the castle felt so romantic. The Arcos garden was especially meaningful to us because Los Arcos is her surname. The dining and disco rooms were delightful too. Marianela and the rest of Raquel’s staff made a huge difference throughout the planning. They helped the couple through the whole process even though they don’t live in Spain, and were so patient. Great celebrations depend on the people involved, and we had the right ones. Thank you for everything. I’d definitely get married at the castle.

We were in total shock and left as soon as we arrived. The place felt dark, kitschy, and without any atmosphere, right beside the highway. With temperatures at 42 degrees, there was no air conditioning in the room. Disneyland Paris would have seemed like paradise next to this loveless haunted house.

Breakfast was simple, included, and fine. Our family room, though clean, was very small and had bunk beds. The restaurant was closed on Sunday evening, and lunch was fully booked. Staff seemed stressed and weren't especially friendly. Charging 20,- as a fixed fee for electric charging felt far too expensive. It wasn't mentioned on the website and didn't fit their hospitality approach.

The breakfast only started at 9, which was too late, and the limited choices were gone within minutes. They took a long time to replenish them. Half board was also disappointing: the menu was limited, half the options weren't available, and the substitutions weren't very good. We had to show our booking before they acknowledged that half board was available. Reception said water and house wine were included, but the restaurant menu said no drinks were included. They sorted it out when we challenged it, but the confusion was unnecessary. The rooms were basic and functional, though a little tired. I wouldn't stay again.
