The worst part was being asked to photograph my passport or ID during check-in. I was worried that information could be exposed in a hack, so I refused. They ended the video call, leaving me unsure whether I would lose the room I’d already paid over €100 for. After I insisted, they finally checked me in without the photo, but the whole thing had already left a bad taste. I stayed at ALDA Santa Cristina Hotel (Oleiros), where check-in happens through a video screen instead of with reception staff. Very unprofessional, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

We went around Easter. The place is close to the beach and a nice park, and works well for adults and kids. Staff were friendly. Weekends get a little busy, though weekdays are very quiet.

For a one-star hotel, the staff deserve five. The breakfast has a decent continental-style selection, though there’s no bacon or eggs. Our room was small, with its own bathroom, but the memory foam bed was really comfortable and we slept well. There’s no air conditioning, so summer could be difficult.

We booked two superior rooms by phone with Jesus, and it was all easy and problem-free. They were lovely, and the area was nice too. We went for walks by the sea and in the nearby park. The staff at both the hotel and the adjoining restaurant were friendly and professional. Good prices for what you get, and we’ll stay again next time we’re in the area.

There are beaches on both sides nearby, and the hotel was beautiful and spotlessly clean for a reasonable price. Breakfast was okay, though a little overpriced. The woman at the desk was very friendly and spoke excellent English.
