We loved the conversations with Javier and Dave most of all, and would love to return to explore more of the region. They clearly care about this place and enjoy sharing it with guests. Their carefully put together tips for day trips, restaurants, hikes, and more made planning easy, and it was a great base for visiting the Picos de Europe and other spots. We stayed in an apartment with a comfortable, relaxing layout and decor, and the bed was very comfortable too. We cooked dinner in the kitchen a couple of evenings using things from the local store, a 10-15 minute drive away. We also had them make dinner on our first night since we were arriving late, and the home-cooked food and presentation were wonderful. Breakfast each morning was a treat as well. A rental car is essential, and there’s plenty of parking. The directions were clear, though I’d suggest arriving in daylight the first time. We had the loveliest stay at el gran sueño last month and honestly didn’t want to leave. Thanks again, Javi and Dave! Michelle and Ryan wish you the best!

We loved the eco hotel feel and the sitting room, where we could have a drink before dinner and listen to lovely music. Everything was high quality, and the dinner we booked was delicious and made with local products. We stayed two nights on the way to Galicia and another two on our return towards the Bilbao ferry. We knew we’d be well looked after, and it was simply the best accommodation we could have hoped for.

The breakfasts featured local produce and homemade preserves, and Dave’s sourdough was the best I’ve ever tasted. We enjoyed the imaginative, delicious dinners too. Dave and Javier were excellent hosts, and nothing was too much trouble. Javier knows the area so well, and his suggestions for places to visit were much appreciated. El Grani Sueno is in a beautiful setting. Our room was stylish and extremely comfortable, with a spacious bathroom and lovely toiletries. The attention to detail throughout the hotel was exceptional. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return.

The regional breakfasts and dinners were very well prepared and delicious, and Dave and Javier gave us a warm welcome with excellent attention to detail. Their carefully selected suggestions on the website also made it much easier to plan our days. We stayed in a self-catering apartment at the gran sueno. Its interior, like the rest of the hotel, blends vintage touches with design classics that really suit the building. We hope to return and would highly recommend this boutique hotel.
