Hotel Obelisco

The restaurant staff made meals a joy. The servers and chefs were extraordinarily friendly, and the food was great. They also helped my friend and me find vegan options. Prices at the bar felt fair, the drink selection was good, and we enjoyed having a drink there each afternoon and with dinner. Pool towels were available with a refund, and the music was good without being too loud. The location near the Schinkenstr. was perfect for our vacation. We were lucky to get a room with a beautiful ocean view. It wasn't very clean at first, but reception sorted that out immediately. The pool was nice too.

For a supposed four-star hotel, this left me very unimpressed. It was 22°C outside, but there was no AC because of the time of year. Opening the balcony door to let cooler air in just brought in the sound of Germans playing music and singing until 4 in the morning. I tried to get dinner at the hotel because I had an early flight, but the kitchen at the top of the hotel was closed. The other restaurant only served a terrible buffet.

I won't book here again. There was no credibility in how things were handled. The official hotel website price included tax, but the receptionist wouldn't acknowledge that. The website booking also promised a welcome drink, free water in the room, and a 5% discount, but none of that was provided. I own a travel agency and booked a group of 24 people, yet received no discount or agency services. Many other hotels offer me a free room, discounts, and special treatment.

The rooftop bar OKUN is a hidden gem, with beautiful views and good food. Try the Mexican shrimp tacos. The reception staff were friendly, the waiters were great, and the breakfast buffet was very good. Everything felt clean and organised. The rooms and beds were good, and there was a lifeguard at the pool as well as an outdoor bar.
