Hosteria La Antigua

The host was so friendly and helpful, and gave us loads of information about the area, the hike, and the town. The hostel is clean and comfortable, right in the middle of Potes. Our room was a little small, especially the shower 😂, and the walls are definitely thin. I guess that’s normal in an old building, and it didn’t bother us too much. We were very happy with the stay and would easily recommend it to anyone visiting town.

We stayed two nights while passing through on the way back to the ferry at Santander. The place is rustic and quite dated, but somehow still charming and comfortable. Cora, the host, is just as charming and helpful. It was a very pleasant stay in an affordable spot that’s ideally located.

The bedroom was small but okay and clean. From your room, you can hear all your neighbors interacting, along with the water whistling through the pipes. It feels like a 360-degree experience, even from outside. Medieval, of course!

We knew what to expect from a hosteria, so take this as advice: don’t expect a hotel. The price is a bit high, but the town is amazing and the location is really good. It’s fine for sleeping and recovering, but not for a long stay. You’ll hear people in the other room.
