Madre Terra

The garden was a real surprise, private and well looked after, with a good lawn, decent furniture, and a modern barbecue. Inside, the place was spotless and beautifully renovated, with modern facilities and comfortable new beds. We arrived a bit wary because of what the reviews said about the owner, but the house was exceptionally clean and everything was maintained so well. I hadn't expected this much comfort in such a remote village. We left very pleasantly surprised.

We'd already got organized after confirming a two-night booking when they wrote to say the minimum had changed to three nights because it was a long weekend. We couldn't understand the reason, so we checked the calendar and saw it was a holiday in Madrid city. I don't have a long weekend anyway, and the whole thing seemed a bit unserious. We'd called to book one night and were first told the minimum was two, which we accepted, then confirmed.

Bring some food with you, since there aren't any facilities nearby, though there is a restaurant where the food is excellent. The area is just right for hiking and relaxing, which was exactly what we wanted, and the people are friendly. The owner was very welcoming and explained things and shared information about the surrounding area. The house was well maintained and had all the amenities, even for cats, who are welcome. A charming place, and we had a very good experience.

The houses are generally in good condition, but the barbecue spot is a small plot away from the house with no shade at all, and there's no lighting if you want to use it at night. Still, they charge for everything, even the paltry €1 for a firelighter.
