The terrace had a lovely view, and the food was fantastic. We were a party of four and arrived at 9pm, early for the locals, so we were the first to eat. The fish and meat dishes were especially good, and the desserts too. There was just one waitress covering the restaurant area, so she wasn’t especially attentive.

The church next door chimes every hour through the night, and it rings twice each time. With no air conditioning, we needed the windows open in the warm weather, but then the bells would very likely wake you every hour anyway. There’s not much the hotel can do about that. The rooms were comfortable and en suite, and the rustic hotel sits on the original square inside the old town walls, with great views and a nice short walk around town. We parked right outside on the square. Breakfast was underwhelming, but while waiting for dinner to start at 20.30, we had beer and snacks at the wonderful restaurant opposite.

Children can play safely in the square beside the terrace, which makes this a family-friendly spot. It’s in the plaza mayor of scenic Puebla de Sanabria, with a beautiful hotel and restaurant. The team were friendly, the prices reasonable for the quality, and the dishes made with local, freshly produced ingredients were delicious. We tried the cecina with foie, which I’d highly recommend.

You can see a lot of effort has gone into preparing the food, and the local ingredients are presented beautifully. We had lamb, venison, and local honey, and the wine list is lovely, especially the Toro wines. The Repsol guide labels the place “recomendado”, and now I understand why. It deserves a WAY better Google mark. Definitely a place for foodies!!!!.

The location is great, but I felt the hotel was overpriced. The receptionist was efficient, though abrupt. Most of all, our sleep was disturbed EVERY hour by the church bells tolling next door.
