Hotel Rural Tierra de Lobos

We were a group of seven, arriving after lunch on a rainy Sunday when everyone wanted to sit inside. The waitress, a middle-aged woman I’d guess was 40 to 55, said we could use a table once the other party finished. Our grandmother was with us on crutches and was exhausted, so she sat in one of the chairs while the table was still uncleared. The waitress came over shouting, “Can’t you wait?” Then she yanked off the tablecloth so forcefully that rubbish flew over my grandmother and across the floor. Everyone stared, and the waitress kept making faces. She also shouted and pulled faces at a younger colleague across the restaurant. It was embarrassing and completely undeserved by us, the other guests, and her colleague. Being busy or short staffed wasn’t our fault. I was so put off that, even if the food might have been nice, I wanted nothing to do with it. The portions were huge and the food tasted good. I would have complimented the chef, but I was afraid the waitress would bite my head off. When we ordered coffee, her younger colleague came to the desk and was very pleasant, so we felt comfortable ordering from her. The service from that colleague was a relief after the earlier treatment. I’m ashamed for the place and the people running it, and hope they recognize what happened. Guests shouldn’t be treated this way in the hospitality business. That waitress needs more training, or should be sent into early retirement.
