The staff were friendly and helpful, and we’d certainly return. It’s a standard hotel with everything you need, plus a small laundry, a shop on site and a great little bar. Our room had what we needed, though a small air fryer would have been useful. We had air conditioning but didn’t need it because the weather wasn’t great. Room 404 had a sea view, and our front door was above drunken monkey. The pub across the road was very noisy even after 1am, but it didn’t bother us much on a four-night stay. There’s a beautiful harbour five minutes away on foot. It’s a 3-4 minute walk to the shopping centre with Zara, a supermarket, berska and more, around 6-7 minutes to the strip with a great Mexican and Chinese, and 10-15 minutes to the beach. The pool could use a renovation, but it was okay. We took the bus from the airport, which was easy and cost £2.80 for two people.

We really enjoyed our first stay at Costa Volcan and loved Puerto Del Carmen and its beaches. The old town and strip were both within walking distance, and the location was good. Our room was basic, but clean and bright, with a lovely balcony looking out over the sea and pool. We’ll be back and would definitely stay here again.

The pool area is pleasant, with a decent number of sun loungers, and the beds were comfortable. The rooms are basic but clean, in a hotel with a great location. Still, I wouldn’t expect to stay here in summer because there’s no air conditioning. Wi-Fi was poor and kept cutting out. You have to leave a deposit for the TV remote and pay locally by the night to use the room safe. I feel the safe should come as standard.

If you’re on a budget and won’t spend much time in your room, the location is good, about a ten-minute walk from the main strip, and the staff were pretty friendly most of the time. But I wouldn’t visit again. The hotel is extremely basic and worn, and the facilities all need refitting. Some rooms back onto a pub and can be loud. There are no umbrellas outside, so there aren’t many shady places to sit, and the pool is a bit rank. There were lots of extra charges: Wi-Fi, €5 a day for the safe, and €20 to hire a fan since there’s no air conditioning. The fan we were given was filthy and didn’t work (see images). There are no double beds, so couples have to push two beds together.

The pool area gets sun all day, and it stays very quiet there. There were plenty of loungers, the rooms were really clean, and the reception staff were very friendly. It was handy having a kettle, toaster, washing-up liquid, sponge and tea towel in the room. I like this hotel and am going back for a week in June to relax.
