Montana Club Suite Hotel

This was a great find on our third trip to lanzarote, and I’d definitely recommend the montana club to friends. Staff were helpful and there are lovely pool areas with plenty of sunbeds, though on a few days some were held for hours before the people showed up, especially older guests. The rooms have air con. Breakfast and lunch at the restaurant are reasonably priced.

We found this one of the better places we’ve stayed in Puerto del Carmen. The rooms are clean and modern, with USB type B sockets, and the AC only runs while the door is closed. The location is handy: Spar is just down the road if you turn right from reception. Turn right, then left at the end of that road, and you reach Avienda de las Playas in about three minutes, right by the casino bus stop. Turning left from the hotel takes a more winding route to Spoons bar/restaurant, where the best smash beach is in Puerto del Carmen. The food is good, and both pools are great. I’d give it five stars if not for two things: there was a loud, annoying hum outside our room that kept us awake, and despite the listing saying it sleeps four, beds three and four are a pull-out couch and not very comfortable. Apparently, you can book a double room directly with the hotel, but not through a travel agent. Apart from the lack of four proper beds, it’s a great spot.

The apartments are lovely, and the cleaners work hard to keep them tidy. But be ready for a sunbed battle: a group of five put towels down at 6am and didn’t show up until 5pm, and people reserve beds at both pools. I spoke to a receptionist, who said she didn’t mind. That says it all, it seems to be encouraged.

The rooms are modern and cleaners come every other day. It’s an excellent hotel, though the food and drinks are expensive when the strip is only five minutes away.
