Hotel Ayamontino

It’s a cheap 2 star hotel, clean, with really friendly staff. There’s a restaurant/bar in the same building, so you don’t have to worry about food.

The rooms are small, but they have everything you need. The hotel is pleasant and near the beach, with friendly staff and clean, well maintained facilities. There are a few restaurants close by, and breakfast is simple but has a good selection. Getting to Huelva means taking a bus that takes about 40 minutes. At night, a taxi to Huelva can easily cost over €30.

I’m giving it 5 stars because it’s a simple two star rated hotel that really tries to give guests the best. Booking went smoothly, and I managed to change to a better twin room for single use. The room was very clean, with all the appliances I needed, a very good bathroom and excellent hot water. The extra blankets came in handy in the winter months. There are restaurants nearby, and breakfast was very good. The staff let me eat early at 7:30, before the regular 8:00 start, and kept my ice pack in the fridge. That helped me recover happily after my orienteering weekend. Thank you for the stay. I’ll come again.

For what you pay, Hotel Ayamontino gives you a lot. I stayed more than just a couple of days and was surprised by how much the price covered. It’s family owned, and that gives the place a quality you don’t get at a large luxury hotel. The hotel stars don’t really tell you what this place is like. The location works really well. The beach is about 400 m away, and Punta Umbría’s center, with its stores, small shops, bars, restaurants and cafes, is close too. In less than 5 minutes on foot, you can reach the beach, nearest food store, gift shop, pharmacy, sports shop or pretty much anything else you might need. The bus station is visible from the hotel, about 200 m away. If you arrive by car or motorcycle, there’s free, safe parking close to the entrance. Get a dated ticket from reception and put it somewhere clearly visible, and make sure you’re in the correct space. If you’re unsure, ask the personell at the desk to check. The rooms are spacious, have air conditioning and TV, and are cleaned every day. Free WiFi is available too. The restaurant is excellent. Breakfast is sufficient, served early, and acceptable to most guests. I especially like how peaceful it is at that time of day. The other meals deserve a closer look: typical Spanish food, prepared perfectly. If you want to try a variety of Andalusian cuisine, this is the place. Each day you can order "a la carte" or from "el menú del día". I’d strongly recommend the latter. Be sure to ask what hours meals are served. For ideas on what to see and do, ask at reception any time. They have maps and brochures in different languages, and the people working there really are locals. They know the region and then some. Unless you’re after a youth hostel, it really isn’t too expensive. Precious? You bet. Find out for yourself, and enjoy your stay!
