Casa Rural La Parra Requena

The bed was clean and very comfortable, but the house was a big disappointment. It costs far too much for its condition, especially in the middle of winter, and there are clear maintenance problems. Water came through the kitchen floor while we were washing dishes and ran as far as the barbecue. More than one bedroom had no wardrobe, just a wheeled clothes rack and a few hangers. Several bedrooms were locked, as was the top floor, so we couldn't use or even see all of the rural house we thought we'd booked. The owner said the upper floor was closed because of high expenses. The shower water ran cold, which was awful in the middle of winter. There's a lot that needs fixing. The owner was very particular about closing doors so the heat wouldn't escape, yet the dining room door to the grapevine and barbecue area didn't close properly. She said it was broken and there hadn't been time to fix it. The house was much too expensive for what it actually offered and the state it was in. I was really disappointed that we couldn't enjoy the complete rural house advertised on the website. I won't return or recommend it.

The beds were comfortable, but there were problems throughout the house. In December it was freezing, and we couldn't get a hot shower. The owner said we'd switched off a switch, but it wasn't labeled as a water heater and we didn't know where it was. The heater on the first floor only gave enough hot water for a couple of showers, then needed until the next day to heat up again. There were leaks from the bathroom sink and kitchen sink, and damp had made parts of the walls peel. The rooms were crowded with extra beds, but had no wardrobes, just a wheeled clothes rail. The dishwasher was out in the patio, under a roof, so in winter we had to carry all the dishes outside to use it. The firewood was scattered on the ground in a weedy plot and only covered with a tarp, so it was extremely damp. The main entrance was dirty and the door scraped the ground so badly it could barely open. We found it easier to use the back door. They didn't return our deposit until two days after we left, despite us insisting. They said they were very busy. For 8 people, 2 days, and €950, this house was in a state of complete disrepair. It's a rip-off and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The whole house was spotless, the bathrooms spacious, the kitchen well equipped, and the beds incredibly comfortable. Heating runs throughout, and the two fireplaces make it even cozier. The house has lots of charm, and the patio has everything you need, including furniture and a barbecue.

Marisa was kind and understanding when an unexpected delay meant we arrived late. She waited for us and handled all the Travel Voucher arrangements with real professionalism and care. Our first trip to Requena was a memorable one, a chance to slow down and disconnect. The house is spacious, clean, and has everything a family needs. The fireplace and barbecue were highlights. It's a quiet, cozy place with lots to do nearby, and I'd recommend it 100% for families. We visited the caves and wineries and had a barbecue at the house, though rain on the final day meant we couldn't enjoy it more. One tip: if you're traveling alone or as a couple, book just part of the house, since it's very large. And reserve cave guides ahead of time.
