We’ve been coming back for nine years, and some of the rooms have since been renovated. The place is cosy, with clean rooms, a lovely pool and a good breakfast. It’s in a small village with plenty of great food nearby, and dinosaur footprints are close too. Two beaches are within walking distance, with some lovely long walks to get there. Late August brings local fiestas: Fartukarte in Ribadesella and another in Tereñes, usually the third or fourth weekend.

The breakfast buffet was spectacular, and the staff, from reception and the dining room to housekeeping, were welcoming and attentive throughout. It felt like being part of a family. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the hotel was quiet and peaceful, with a private pool. The one drawback was that there was no air conditioning in the rooms. I’d definitely stay again on a future visit.

We agree with all the positive reviews. The lovely quiet of this place was badly disturbed during our two-day stay by five young men, who were inconsiderate and as loud as a company of Landsknechts, day and night. They made noise both on their room balcony and by the hotel pool, so relaxing in either spot was almost impossible. Nothing was done about it, which felt incredibly outrageous. It meant we couldn’t enjoy our time here as much as we should have in such a beautiful place. What a shame. A warm thank-you, though, to the very friendly breakfast room staff member, who took such thoughtful care of the guests.
