Hotel Don Pepe Ria is a two star hotel across the street from the main building, which is right on the beach. You have to go down some stairs to get into it. Our room was on the third floor, but the lift only went up to the second, so hauling suitcases up the last stairs was pretty hard. There was no air conditioning. Breakfast in the main building was excellent, except for the bad coffee.

We borrowed the hotel bikes to ride around the harbour on the morning we left. The reception team were so kind and helpful, and I think Yolanda welcomed us. They even spoke English despite our terrible Spanish. The hotel is right at the beach edge, with great views from the balcony and the lovely sound of the waves. We hadn't noticed there was no air con, and it was a heatwave, but the ceiling fan gave us some relief overnight. Would recommend!

The view from our bedroom straight out to sea was perfect, and the hotel was very clean. The weather turned windy when we arrived, so we couldn't use the balcony. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. A great hotel in a disappointing village, Ribadesella.

The stay was pleasant otherwise, but the bicycle policy was frustrating. Bikes weren't allowed in the room even though there was plenty of space. The alternative was storage in a separate garage, with no insurance, so it was at your own risk. Getting in and out of the garage took me quite a while, which felt unnecessary.

The staff were really nice, and the rooms looked fine and were very clean. Noise was the main problem. I could hear everything from upstairs, including a baby crying all night. I couldn't sleep, and I felt bad for the parents.
