Hotel Royal

We booked at the last minute and asked for one double bed, but the keys were for a room with two twins. The front desk woman said that was all they had and that it was what we got for booking late. That felt really unprofessional. The whole hotel smelled of cigarettes and the rooms were dark, so I think we may have dodged a bullet. I’d try Hotel Polo instead.

We slept well here, since the street gets surprisingly quiet late in the evening. It’s good value and just a short walk from the cliff viewpoint, the bullring, and the spectacular Puerte Nuevo bridge. We had no trouble keeping our bicycles safely inside. There’s no fridge in the room, but the air conditioning worked perfectly. We’d gladly come back.

The location is good, and you can park along the street. The rooms could use better soundproofing. Ms. Eva at check-in was very helpful and gave us a printed map of nearby sights.

The reception women were lovely and helpful, and the place was clean with nice air-conditioned rooms. Reception is open around the clock. They also have an iron if you need one, and they kept our bags for a few hours after checkout.
