Mas Palou

The service was pleasant, the food was good, and the room was cleaned regularly. Still, we wouldn't come back. For us, the standards no longer feel like three stars. The old house and its location are stunning, which makes the poor upkeep a shame. Several things were rotten or broken. The mattress had a large brown mark, possibly from a leak at the window, and the bed linen had holes. The bed cover had what looked like cigarette burns. The bathtub wasn't inviting, and its whirlpool feature can't be turned on anymore, so I don't think it should still be listed as an amenity. I wasn't expecting a brand-new room at a three-star place, but I was disappointed that the property felt so neglected. It needs renovation and new textiles.

The food was good, and the meat was fresh and good quality. Staying in such a historic place was a nice experience. I work in gastronomy, so I may have high expectations of the service, but I think breakfast could easily be made much nicer with a little extra care.

The breakfast was fresh, and the staff were lovely and genuine. This is a beautiful, authentic Masia Hotel/ Restaurant. Some reviews seem pretty entitled. The building is a timeless stone place from the 16th century, so strong Wifi probably wasn't what people were thinking about when they built it. If you can't appreciate the quirks of a place like this, maybe tasteless hotels in Dubai are more your thing.

The setting is lovely and peaceful, and it's only a short drive from Roses and Cadaqués. Breakfasts were filling, with a good range of options. I had mixed feelings about the hotel. The rooms didn't look nearly as good as the photos suggested, and cleanliness could've been better. The bathroom was nice, and the bath seemed welcoming, but dirt came out of the spa bath nozzles when we used them. They couldn't provide a kettle or mugs, and seemed surprised that we'd expect a way to make a drink in the room. That was odd.
