Camping La Isla

There were only a few guests, so the camp felt peaceful, with plenty of shade and a lovely pool. The bar was closed because they were dealing with a difficult, unpleasant situation, but we were still able to stay and everything went fine. We enjoyed our visit. The pool, bar, and food were good, but the place is miles from anything and there’s no shop. The campsite was nearly empty, yet we were offered just two unattractive pitches and weren’t allowed to pick another. Neither had a lake view, though many pitches don’t seem to have one anyway. When we were ready to leave the next morning, the gate was shut and nobody was there to settle the bill. We called the owner at about 9:30, and the woman arrived 20 minutes later to take payment and open it. Very disappointing.

Loud music and shouting carried on until 4 a.m., even though the written rule says noise that disturbs other guests, especially during rest time, is forbidden. I couldn’t sleep at all. If you want a quiet campsite where you can rest, avoid this one.

The pine forest setting is lovely and idyllic, with views over Iznajar lake. We visited on a busy Sunday afternoon and had very nice local food at a reasonable price. I’d suggest putting up a clearer sign off the main road, since you might not find the place unless you explore the area.
