Hotel Vent de Mar

At 10 pm on our second night, the man from Buenos Aires charged us 146 Euros for the last room, a three-person room with a bed and a cot, even though there were only two of us. In all our many trips around Europe, we've only ever paid the two-person rate in that situation. I tried to negotiate, but he knew we were stuck and wouldn't budge. The room had no fridge, either. Our first night had cost 86 Euros. Earlier, we'd asked the woman at the desk where to eat, and she sent us to the Epicenter as the nearest option. It took a 15-minute drive each way to reach a big mall. We later found out there were four restaurants nearby, plus lots of places to eat at the beach, just a 10-minute walk away. We travel around Europe a lot and rarely complain, but this felt shabby. Avoid this hotel.

We had a really pleasant stay, and I couldn't find the problems mentioned in earlier bad reviews. It seems some of the hotel was recently renovated. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the air conditioning worked, and so did the lights and other features. The bathroom was fine. Our only small snag was the card reader for the electricity. The young man at reception was kind, smiling, and extremely helpful, with very good English. He was busy all over the place because the hotel seemed short-staffed at night, but did a tremendous job. Everything at reception was clean. Hotel Vent de Mar is within easy walking distance of what you need in the city, and close to public transport. We brought a car and were glad to have the protected basement parking.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and the location is great. The hotel was clean, the electrical widgets worked well, and breakfast was good at 7€ per person. Basement parking costs 6.5€ for a large spot. We did have to wait 10-15 minutes in the lobby while the receptionist handled the paperwork. We asked if we could park our motorcycles in the meantime, but they said they had a set process that customers couldn't change.

The beach was a short walk away, and most rooms had balconies. Everything was close, the food was amazing, and I loved my room's view. But I give it a 2 because of the bed bugs. We were moved three times, even though we were the only ones in a large wedding party dealing with it. They could have offered a little compensation, but nothing was done. The internet was horrible too.
