Apartamentos Fidalgo

So far everything's just right. It's very clean, and though small, there's more than enough room; the bathroom is fine too. The bathtub has a curtain, but it's clean. The village is lovely, quiet, and has incredible views. The road here was good, with just a small pass that's easy to climb. We parked without trouble. You do have to go down a hill to reach the apartments, which is normal in villages like this. I'd read some bad old reviews, but what we're seeing now is nothing like those.

The town is beautiful and the price is good, but the apartment was awful. We found black paint-like stuff filling the bathtub, yellow spots of unclear origin on the bathroom tiles, and the bathrooms were extremely dirty. There was a shower curtain, which felt disgusting given how many guests must use it. The kitchen had hardly any basic utensils or supplies. The extractor was broken and sparked when we tried to make it pull more air. No scissors either, so bring your own if you need to cut anything. Black marks covered the kitchen-living room wall, the floor was dirty, and we hated walking barefoot there. The TV didn't work, and the living room lighting was dim and unpleasant. The bedroom itself was okay, but streetlights poured in all night unless we shut the windows tightly. The walls seemed paper-thin: we heard the neighbors doing everything, including flushing and taking very long showers. Then they had the nerve to ask us to clean before leaving, despite the state we found the place in. Please don't book this awful apartment, even though the location is lovely.

I came back to this charming town for a second visit. Years ago, the apartment I stayed in was fine, but this time I was given Apartment No. 1 and it was a letdown. There were bad smells, uncomfortable beds, and mold on the bathroom tiles, with dirty corners too. The ceiling had holes and the vent was coming loose. The place is in such poor shape that it needs renovating.

We'd love to return. The village is small, cozy, and beautiful, and there's a nearby lookout with stunning mountain views when the weather cooperates. My husband and I stayed at Apartamentos Fidalgo1 from October 30th to November 1st. The apartment was simple but warm and comfortable, just right for two, though the living room sofa also folds out if you're traveling with children. There's an electric stove, microwave, and some dishes in the kitchen. We had a comfortable bed, a closet, towels, bedding, and the other things we needed. From the windows we could see the mountains and a few buildings.
