Back home after a week here, here's my honest take. We had a lovely stay and would return. The hotel made a great first impression, it was clean and smelled nice, and reception staff were pleasant. Our room was spotless, with a new-looking bathroom, lovely shower and a huge bed. I found the bed uncomfortable and got backache, though my husband was fine, so that's down to personal preference. The room was a nice place to relax, and the TV was a decent size, though we didn't use it. The balcony had plenty of room, a table and chairs, and a clothes airer. Housekeepers cleaned daily and changed towels when we asked; they were always polite in the corridor. The walls are a bit thin, so you can hear the neighbours enjoying their holiday. We were on the fourth floor above the entertainment area, and could hear the kids' disco and shows. Smoke from people below drifted up, and there were ashtrays on balconies, with people smoking on our floor too. No sunbed battles at all, we could get one whenever we wanted. We used the spa nearly every day, and it was a lovely bonus with an indoor Turkish bath, jacuzzi, steam room and hot room. Children over 12 can go in with an adult, but they were noisy, jumping into the pool and being a pest. Maybe the spa should be adults only. The outdoor pool was nice, though full of kids as well. Thank goodness for the quiet reading room, where we could escape the noise. We only watched two nights of entertainment, and didn't find it entertaining at all. We were disappointed, so went out or turned in early. I don't understand the food complaints: there's a huge range with something for everyone, from steak, fish and paella to more puddings than you can imagine. They even had oysters and champagne at breakfast. TUI Rep Eve was amazing and helped us pick activities for our honeymoon. On my birthday, the hotel left a bottle of champagne in our room, a lovely gesture. The location suited the places we wanted to visit: 10 minutes' walk to portaventura park, 10 minutes to the beach, and 30 minutes to the house of illusion.

The kids loved the evening entertainment, especially the games and dancing with the staff before the live acts. We were there during Halloween, and the haunted tour for children was brilliant. The hotel and its staff were great, as were the food, pool and slides. Its location worked well for us, between PortAventura and the beach. We spent a week here as a family and would definitely come back to Salou.

We’ve been coming as a group of three golfers for years, and we’re still happy with everything. The minibus to the airport and courses was excellent. Javier drove us every day, always on time and with a smile. Anna in the restaurant deserves a special mention for how hard she works, constantly clearing and resetting tables. The rest of the staff were excellent too. There’s a good range of food, including fresh dishes cooked in front of guests alongside the buffet and cold cuts. Our recently refurbished room was top class, with a very comfortable bed and a monsoon shower in an excellent bathroom.

The food at dinner was very good, though breakfast stayed the same each day. I have to say, watching the meat BBQ chefs did make me smile. Some staff were distant or inconsistent, including when nobody told us we could have dinner on arrival night. Others were quick to help and give advice, and we tried not to let the less helpful moments spoil the trip. The hotel looks very nice from outside, and our booking included an airport transfer. It’s in a pleasant, quiet spot, not too far from the beach or main street, so yes, I’d stay again.

We had a great stay from 16/09 to 27/09 in room 4128. It overlooked the pool and was above the bar, but the entertainment noise wasn’t an issue. The neighbours were very loud and we could hear them through the thin walls, though it might be fine with quieter neighbours. The beach was about a 10-minute walk and PortAventura around 15 minutes away, so the location suited us well. The room was clean, with a bathroom that looked new, a reasonably comfortable bed, a hairdryer that wasn’t the best, and a fridge. The safe cost extra. Housekeeping was great, and we could request things like toilet roll or shower gel through the app. Staff were friendly and helpful too. When our door wouldn’t lock, someone came up straight away to fix it. Breakfast was the same every day, but there was enough choice and it was pretty good. They even had oysters and champagne each morning, as well as juice and coffee. Dinner was tasty with plenty to choose from, including fish and steak cooked to order and paella every night, though it repeated after seven days. We hadn’t come across having to pay for drinks at dinner, even water, before. The pool was nice, but floats over a certain size weren’t allowed and staff would ask you to take them out. Sunbeds could be a little hard to find. There was no running for them, but people did reserve them from 8am, when the pool opens at 10, and towels weren’t removed. Drinks were reasonably priced for a hotel: 3.5 for a soft drink, 7 for a cocktail and 4 for a beer. The entertainment was hit or miss, though we don’t usually go to hotel shows anyway. Our only downside was the noisy neighbours, which wasn’t the hotel’s fault.
