Hostel Poseidón HM

There's a lovely rooftop terrace, and while I didn't use the kitchen, it looked well stocked. There's also an extra fridge on the first floor. The staff are great, friendly, and helpful. The town feels sleepy and is away from the tacky resorts, but the beach is still close enough. Several supermarkets are a few minutes away on foot, the bus stop is about five minutes away, and the shopping mall is around ten minutes away.

We left after five sleepless nights of the eight we'd booked. I offered the owner a reasonable proposal for a refund for the last three nights, but he suggested an "apartment" upstairs, which we didn't accept. We didn't want to stay in this place with an owner who seemed not to care who was staying there. It wasn't worth the price. The sound carries terribly through the building. With the room door closed, we could hear people in their rooms talking, coughing, and doing other things, as well as everyone in the hall. The room doors make a lot of noise whenever they open or close. During our stay, some workers were loud in the hall late at night, swearing and slamming doors. The owner said it's only a hostel and voices can't be "completely avoided," but in other hostels we've stayed at, both guests and owners cared about keeping order in the shared areas. That wasn't our experience here. It was dirty throughout, and nearly all the furniture was broken and patched up very badly. To the owner: you only get one honor in life.

Shared bathrooms are cleaned often, and there's a kitchen with gas burners for cooking. The place has friendly staff, allows pets, and offers rooms with or without balconies. If you like meeting interesting people while traveling but still want somewhere to retreat and rest, this is the place for you. I love it here.

Rez and Stefanie were so kind and helpful with everything I needed. Poseidon is in a lovely, authentic town in maspalomas, with good public transport connections. You can take a bus or taxi to all the famous spots, then come back to enjoy the quiet and choose how much tourist bustle you want. The shower is great and the kitchen is well equipped. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
