The indoor pool was pleasant, with a cover that kept the chilly breeze off. The rooms themselves were decent and clean. The hotel as a whole feels stuck in the 90s, and the spa area, though decent, was a bit dated too. It had a reservable area with a 270° shower, an almost Finnish sauna, a cold steam room, a fairly large hot tub and a couple of different rooms for relaxing. We had half board, so dinner was included, but the main course was horrendous every time. There was a daily choice of meat, fish, pasta or vegetable dishes, but the options seemed unchanged since the 90s. We tried every type of main over the course of our stay, and each time the food was cold, full of pasta cooking water, or simply not what the menu said. The starter buffet was the one saving bit, though that felt straight from the 90s too. The hotel's saving grace is the shy black cat who lives there. She may be wary of new guests, but if you let her smell your hand and pet her a little, she gets quite cuddly. If you sit beside her and are friendly, she might even hop onto your lap.

The views and setting are what stay with me most, and the hotel itself has a lovely colonial feel, with spacious, nicely decorated rooms. There’s a cosy lounge, a quaint bar, and a big dining room with glass windows looking down over the valley. Some rooms have four-poster beds, and there’s also a gym, spa, pool, and chapel. It’s perched high up the valley, so the drive there is quite thrilling. I got married here, which makes the place especially dear to me. It’s such a nice spot to unwind, read, and enjoy the surroundings.

The food was a little disappointing. It wasn't bad, just lacked a wow factor. We still really enjoyed our stay, though. The junior suite was a good size, with a huge, very comfortable bed and a great mountain view. The bathroom was clean and fine, but could use an update. The free WiFi was poor and didn't reach the rooms. Great location and views, and the staff were friendly.

Breakfast was faultless, and the place had a nice atmosphere, with friendly staff and a bar area with a wood burner. The location, views, and pool area were wonderful. I didn't think the evening meal or accommodation quite measured up to four-star standard, but I'd happily visit again.

The food was a letdown: there was a nice spread, but none of it was hot. The bacon and egg were cold, and the calamari stew and Bolognese were cool. The room was lovely, and the views were stunning. One odd thing, the bath and sink taps had hot and cold going in opposite directions. The spa is free, but there was nobody there to help when the jacuzzi stopped working. Quite a few of the sun umbrellas were broken too.
