MUR Hotel Neptuno Gran Canaria - Adults Only

The food was good quality, and even as a very fussy eater I found something I liked at every meal. The snack bar was great too, with tasty food that wasn't expensive. The hotel and room were lovely and clean, and there were plenty of sunbeds by the pool. We stayed at the Neptune in May 2026 and had a wonderful time. The friendly staff were terrific and nothing was too much trouble. We'll definitely book another visit. A special shout-out to our waiter Romano, who really looked after us.

The buffet meals offered plenty of choice. Breakfast included eggs, bacon and omelettes cooked to order, while dinner had different cooked meats each time. Our favourite was the a la carte lunch at the pool terrace bar, with a varied menu and salad bar. We had a pool-view room with a large comfortable bed, a decent balcony and a good-sized bathroom with a walk-in shower. Although the entrance was on the road side, an internal corridor door kept the road noise out. The public areas were clean, the hotel was well maintained, and staff were friendly and efficient. But room cleaning was very hit and miss. The shower temperature swung from lukewarm to scalding and back without us touching the tap. We had to ask for replacement towels three times because the supposedly clean ones had brown stains or holes, which isn't what you'd expect from a four-star hotel. There are lots of unavoidable steps, so it isn't ideal if you have joint or mobility problems. My wife and I spent a couple of weeks here on an all-inclusive basis earlier this month. There was a mixture of good, not so good and awful. Without the fantastic staff, this would be a two-star review.

The food was great, with plenty of choice and good quality, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. The location works well for the bars and shops at Yumbo centre, with no noise problems, and buses from there are useful for exploring. It's a bit far from the beach if that's your main reason for coming. Beds were comfortable, though the rooms could use more lighting. The pool is small, but there weren't many swimmers and loungers were easy to find. I wish the pool and bar stayed open longer, since some people would like a swim after a day out. The gym had limited equipment, and some of it was out of action all week. A water chiller there would help. The main gripe was the shower, which kept jumping from a reasonable temperature to scalding hot every few seconds.

After three decades in high-end hospitality, I was pleasantly surprised by this establishment. It has a calm, oasis-like feel and deserves its four-star rating, with a private-club atmosphere and no fees. The team is what really makes it work. I can't praise the staff enough. Thank you all for making our stay so special.
