Being close to the shops, restaurants, and Yumbo centre was the only real plus. There was just one key for the two of us, one bath towel each, and one toilet roll each for the whole week. The washing machine wasn't even connected, and a lot of the fittings were broken or damaged. The bed was very uncomfortable, with a thin, hard mattress. The shower was tiny and badly fitted, with the taps too low and the shower head too high. Never again.

The view was the one thing that made the apartment worthwhile. Wind makes an awful noise inside, and the pool area feels bleak. People at the restaurant and on the street can see you trying to sunbathe on the cheap plastic chairs, which may explain why it's always empty. I booked through Air BnB.

We were in a privately owned apartment in the Tinache block, and it was quiet, secure, and felt safe, so don't let the block's reviews put you off. The place was very homely and had everything we could need, right down to toiletries, lots of fresh towels, and a welcome bottle of wine. The ceiling fans kept it cool. It's a brilliant spot, one street back from Yumbro and the bars, with a taxi to the dunes and beach costing only 4 euros. Get up early one morning for a beautiful sunrise.
