Laguna Nivaria Hotel & Spa

The location is very convenient, close to the center of la Laguna, a bus stop and a large parking area. Staff seemed very professional, and breakfast was good quality, with the menu changing daily. The room felt a bit old-fashioned. There was a mini kitchen but no coffee or tea, and a clear sign saying to put only water in the kettle. The bathroom needs attention too, including the wall heating system and tile joints. The spa isn't included, and costs 15€ for one hour. For a mini-pool and jacuzzi, that feels like a total rip-off. I'm giving only three stars to encourage improvement.

The Nivaria was cheaper this time than the other hotel I usually use in La Laguna, and breakfast was included. It looks nice, is well placed for the city, and the staff were nice. Still, a few easy-to-fix things got in the way. There was just one generic wall soap dispenser for the shower and another for the sink. At a 4* hotel, I'd expect separate soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers. I'm not asking for premium products, but with what's provided, you'll need to bring or buy conditioner. The bedside sockets were occupied by the lamps, so charging phones overnight meant unplugging them and using the harsh ceiling lights. Outlet extenders or a small power strip would make the rooms more practical. Most days, the cleaning crew woke us around 8 or earlier by talking or moving folding beds along the stone corridor, which amplifies the sound. I only slept through until my 8:15/8:30am alarm once. That's why I won't return: on holiday, I expect to sleep as long as I need. For a one-day visit, it's a perfectly nice hotel, but over a longer stay you'll miss conditioner and enough sleep.

La Laguna Gran Hotel is just a minute away, costs about the same, and gave a much better experience. By comparison, I didn't think this hotel was good value for money.

I really liked this place. It's in a very nice spot on the island, and I think you'll like it too.
