Amarilla Golf Residences

The staff were welcoming and really friendly throughout our four nights at Amarilla. The bedroom felt like a mini apartment, with lots of space, good equipment and a very clean finish. We loved sitting out with a drink on the balcony. Slippers and robes would have been a nice addition. The heated pool was just right in January. Breakfast was great; we only had dinner at the restaurant once, and it was nice, though service was a bit slow. We knew the location was somewhat remote when we booked and wanted to stay away from busier areas. There is quite a bit of construction nearby, but it didn't bother us too much. A hyperdino supermarket is just a five-minute walk down the road, which was handy. We had a lovely short break and would definitely recommend it for a few days of relaxing.

We had a one-bedroom apartment with a pull-out sofa that slept four, and it had good cooking facilities. There were two shower rooms but just one toilet, which was the only drawback in the room. The place was really clean, and housekeeping came daily if you wanted. There's a new supermarket about 100 yards away for supplies. It was an easy base for the golf courses, and the area was quiet while still having plenty of bars for food and drinks. The hotel seems fairly new, maybe built within the last five years. The heated pool opened at 10 while we were there, and there were enough loungers that nobody needed to fight for a spot. Our balcony had two sunbeds and got sun until midday. We'd definitely come back 😎

The daily cleaning staff did exceptional work, and the hotel itself was comfortable with a pleasant atmosphere. Still, breakfast was an uncomfortable experience. Staff seemed bored and uninterested, and were often loud, chatting among themselves and sometimes talking over guests. That really wasn't acceptable. There was a wide food selection, but much of it felt unnecessary and unhealthy, such as packaged mini muffins and cookies. Some things didn't seem fresh: the tomatoes in our omelet looked as if they might have been two days old. Waffles and pancakes were left warming for hours until they were almost inedible. Freshly made options would be much better.

A small, neat hotel, with friendly, helpful staff, clean and spacious rooms, and fresh, tasty food. The pool stays warm even in February. If you're after a quiet stay without crowds or having to compete for a lounger, this is the place.
