Sunset View Club

The pool was chilly during our April visit, though everything was clean and the jacuzzi was warm. There’s a large pool and a small children’s one, with plenty of sunbeds and no battles over them. Even arriving after lunch, we found loungers easily. Pool rules ban balls, inflatables, and toys, which was frustrating, and children can’t use the jacuzzi. There’s no play area on site, but a small park opposite. We had plenty of parking for our hire car. The location is quiet and handy for golf, with shops, a supermarket, restaurants, and beauty salons opposite. We spent some evenings nearby and drove to busier places such as the golden mile. With a family, I’d ideally have a car as there isn’t a lot to do around here. Staff were helpful and friendly, check-in was easy, and we paid a €100 deposit. There was WiFi, but we didn’t come across any evening entertainment. It’s good value and we’d recommend the apartments. A luggage scale at reception and a swap shelf for things like buckets, spades, or toiletries would be useful. We stayed eight days. Our apartment was really clean and quiet once we were inside, apart from the occasional plane overhead. Housekeeping came every three days, cleaning and changing towels and bedding. It had everything for self-catering: cooker, hob, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine, and utensils. They also left two dishwasher tablets and two laundry pods each visit, plus washing-up liquid, toilet and kitchen roll, a sponge, and tea towel. Air conditioning worked well in both the living area with sofa bed and the bedroom. The bathroom was clean, with plenty of towels, a large shower and wall-mounted shower gel, plus toilet, sink, mirror, bin and hair dryer. When the dryer broke, I reported it late one evening and it was replaced by 10am next morning. Communication through WhatsApp was excellent, with quick replies and updates. They promptly dealt with both the broken dryer and my request for extra pillows. There’s a restaurant on site, but we didn’t eat there, so can’t comment on the food. I did get the occasional coffee. We had breakfast at the apartment, packed lunches, and mostly ate dinner out. We drove to other towns and also tried the Chinese and Indian restaurants opposite the apartments, plus takeaway pizza. The balcony had a table and four chairs, a clothes airer, and a cupboard with an ironing board and iron, dustpan and brush, and mop.

Our flight arrived late, and we chose this hotel because it seemed fairly close to the airport, although the taxi still cost €20 each way. We didn’t check in until after 3am, but staff still required us to leave at 10am. That checkout time already feels unusually early by hotel standards, and it was disappointing they wouldn’t offer even a one-hour extension as a gesture, especially since we’d arrived after midnight and were staying for less than eight hours. We left exhausted and short on sleep. The only reason we booked was to get some proper rest before exploring the rest of Tenerife, and we didn’t manage that.

The restaurant food was very average, though the pool was good and the staff were excellent. We had a fantastic three weeks here, despite starting off in a room that just wasn’t adequate. After one night, we were moved to a much better room that we loved. I’d come back, but was told there’s no guarantee of getting a balcony, which is small, or a lovely large terrace with sunbeds. Sadly, that means we can’t return.

The complex has a wonderfully relaxed feel, and we had a great week there with our two children. The grounds are beautiful and cared for, the pools are great, and the apartment was the best we’ve stayed in. Both rooms had air conditioning, and the huge patio was a bonus. Across the road there’s a square full of bars and restaurants, plus a well stocked supermarket. We couldn’t try them all. Bus routes to other places were good, too. The on-site restaurant was excellent, serving food and drinks in the day and evening. The sunset view staff were professional, and the WhatsApp service was brilliant. Ask for what you need and you get a direct reply within minutes. They even sent room-cleaning updates and called within 15 minutes of our arrival to check everything was okay. We had a few requests before arriving and they sorted them. Can’t thank the staff enough, we’ll definitely be back, especially in October when the temperature was just right.
