The rooms were basic but acceptable, though there’s no air conditioning, the road is noisy, and you can hear every sound through the thin walls, even the guests next door flushing. Bring earplugs. It felt overpriced, and the cleaner was a bit grumpy. This is more a few rooms in a building with a virtual reception than a hotel. Nobody from the property was there when we arrived, so I had to phone someone to get into the building and our room. The reception was empty, as the photo shows. There was almost no staff presence, which felt unsettling. Not quite as bad as the unattended hotel in Touch of Evil, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

The room was spacious and clean, with a balcony, and the neighborhood was quiet. There’s parking on site. It’s a long way from the old town, bars, and restaurants, and there was no fridge or coffee-making setup in the room. Reception closes at 9 pm, though a sister hotel across the street has 24-hour reception. Bus 16 stops outside and takes about 30 minutes to reach the old town. It’s meant to come every 20-30 minutes, but wasn’t reliable for us, and sometimes we waited an extra 10-15 minutes.

The welcome when I booked and arrived was lovely, and breakfast was good. The room was very clean and newly modernized, but lacked facilities. I expected an upscale hotel because the price was twice the usual rate, and it didn’t live up to that. It’s on a very busy junction, with traffic noise day and night. I had to wear earplugs and keep the windows shut, so I couldn’t enjoy the room or sit out on the terrace. The welcome coffee was a nice thought, but the basic room was vastly overpriced given the location.
