Distrito Oeste Hotel

My room was quiet, and the staff were polite and helpful. I felt very comfortable here, and breakfast had plenty of different foods. The hotel made my stay in San Sebastian feel complete. :)

At €207 a night for a double room, the quality and service just didn’t match the price, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Maybe this is just what accommodation in the area is like during tourist season, but that’s only a guess. The room didn’t look like the photos. It felt worn out and needed renovation, or at least better upkeep. Cleanliness was a major problem: the floor was dirty, a used towel was left hanging in the bathroom, and the toilet seat had visible signs of use and clearly hadn’t been cleaned. The sheets seemed clean, but I only checked them in dim light at night. I didn’t want to look too closely and upset myself. Breakfast was very basic, enough to fill your stomach but not enjoyable. On the plus side, parking on the street right by the hotel was convenient and inexpensive at €4/day, and late check-in was easy.

The room felt clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We also found the location useful: the bus stop is right behind the hotel, about a 10-minute ride or four stops to La Concha Beach, and around seven stops to a lively area with lots of restaurants. The floor we stayed on needs physical upkeep. Our room and the hallway had lots of scratches and black marks on the walls. There was also an unsafe dip in the floor on the way to our room, about 4" x 24" (see pictures). We checked out two hours early and I asked for a cup of coffee, but was told I couldn’t have one without buying breakfast. That was confusing because the instructions say tea and coffee are included in the lounge area to “enhance your stay” (see picture). It wasn’t a huge deal, but it was an unpleasant send-off. With some physical improvements, I think this would be easy to recommend. As things stand, I wouldn’t stay again.

I stayed just one night and was really happy with the service, breakfast, soft bed and very clean room. I’d choose this hotel again if I come back to San Sebastian for vacation.
