Right in the middle of the old town, with pintxos bars all around, and easy to find and get into. It’s basic accommodation, but the room was clean and comfortable, and they made good use of the limited space. There were some nice thoughtful touches. I met the friendly host the next morning.

The location is really convenient, but there’s a very loud bar right below. If your room is on the street, it gets crazy noisy, and with no AC you’re choosing between heat and noise. Also, if you book through another site like Booking.com, you won’t receive the entry code by email. Since there’s no receptionist, you have to call them to get in.

Pension Santa Clara sits in a handy spot in the old town, about a five minute walk from both the bus and railway stations. The rooms are simple, clean, and reasonably priced. You can walk to the harbor and La Concha seafront to the west, the river to the east, or Mount Urgull overlooking the city to the north. With the old town full of great bars and restaurants, it’s well placed for a stay.

A cozy, tidy pension, with a private bathroom for every room. There’s no breakfast, but the free coffee, fruit, cookies, and pastries are a lovely thing to have in the morning.

We felt welcome right away, and the owner was so friendly and helpful. The house was clean, with everything we needed and a perfect location. We’d happily stay here again. Thank you ;)
