La Concha

It was the cheapest place around, and a good base for visiting San Sebastián. The room was practical, the bed was nice, and everything worked. They cleaned it thoroughly every day. I'd recommend it if you just want somewhere comfortable to come back to.

We were surprised when the gentleman wouldn't let us into the pension before check in time, even though we only wanted to leave our bags at reception. Guests don't have access to reception outside their official stay, so storing luggage before check in or after checkout is treated as a huge favour. There's no shared bathroom either, meaning you can't use the toilet or change before or after your stay. The man running the place was very rude and unwelcoming, and made us uncomfortable throughout. Whenever we saw him at reception, the feeling was that we weren't welcome. That's the last thing you need when you're trying to enjoy a holiday.

We had our own toilet and shower, plus air conditioning, and the hostal was clean. The receptionist was polite and helpful, so we had no complaints. It's a one minute walk to the beach and only a few minutes from both the new and old town. No breakfast is served, but there are lots of places to eat nearby anyway. We stayed for two nights, July 19-21, 2019. Simple, but it did the job. I'd recommend it.

Our room was small but had what we needed, and it was very clean. The hostel is in a perfect spot, and the receptionist was friendly and helpful. After the marathon, he even let us shower although we were a little past checkout time.
