Okako Hotel

We found the price a bit high, though there was a jazz festival on the weekend we stayed. For a 1* hotel with good ratings, we weren’t sure what to expect, but it was more like a good standard European 3* hotel. The room was comfortable and a decent size. It smelled a little damp when we first went in, but that faded quickly. Soundproofing could be better. The staff were very helpful and communicative beforehand, and I’d recommend the property.

Free coffee, friendly staff, and everything was clean and neat. Such a nice little place. I’ll stay here again next time I’m in San Sebastian.

The Okako Hotel was a place I’d happily stay at again when I visit Donostia-San Sebastian, which is beautiful. It’s within walking distance of the train and bus station and all the tourist attractions. The room and bathroom were small but very clean. In the room there was water and glasses, and the lobby had a coffee and espresso machine, tea, fruit, and pastries. Those amenities were excellent. The one thing I disliked was the smell from the ‘antique armoire’. It stank, so I didn’t use it. Even with the doors shut, the odor got into my luggage and the clothes hanging in the room, and I carried it with me to my next hotel.

The location was perfect, near the city centre and beach. The corridors and room had amazing pictures, and the hotel was lovely and cosy. Staff were kind and attentive. Beds, amenities, and design felt at a 5 star hotel level. There was complimentary coffee and fruit by reception, and mineral water in the room. I’ll definitely come back!
