The young woman working there was friendly and helpful, and the location is great, but I wouldn’t go back because of the condition of the place. It was dirty everywhere, easily the worst place I’ve stayed. During our visit San Sebastián was warm and very humid, and there was a lot of black mold in the bathrooms and our room. The kitchen smelled bad and was so dirty I wouldn’t cook there. The owner wasn’t friendly at all.

You’re only a few minutes’ walk from the city’s main beaches, with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. Our room’s balcony faced an interior patio that smelled of bad food all day because of a restaurant kitchen. The bathroom was really dirty, and I don’t think it was cleaned during our three-night stay. The bin was full most of the time, and the staff weren’t very helpful.

The location is the one good thing here. The place was dirty, particularly the kitchen and bathrooms, and the room felt stuffy without air-conditioning. There was only a tiny ceiling fan, positioned far from the bed. The towels were hand towels, and the staff didn’t seem to care about service or looking after the place. Better to avoid it if you can.

The breakfast was included, and the little muffin was a surprise since I’ve never had another hostel offer something like that. A staff member showed me how to eat it with chocolate cereal and milk, the typical Basque way, apparently. The atmosphere was nice, the staff friendly, and the location super good. There was free Wi-Fi and a free towel too. I stayed a few nights and really enjoyed it. Give the muffin a try!
