Surfing Etxea - Hostel

The private room was beautifully decorated, and the service was really kind. There can be some noise from people using the shared kitchen next door, since the bedroom wall backs onto it. Still, it’s good value for the price.

The location is especially handy for the beach where the surfers go. This is a very clean, nice hostel, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. They walk you to your room and explain how everything works. The bathrooms felt really cramped, though there may be a private one available if it’s open. The kitchen has only a fridge and microwave, so cooking much isn’t really possible.

The staff made me feel right at home, especially Shareen, Anna, Segundo, Francesca, Lina and Francisco. Surfing Etxea is easily one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in across Europe, and a great choice whether you’re surfing or just exploring the area. Surfers have a very comfortable dedicated space, and boards and wetsuits are available to rent. The rooms and bathrooms are modern and clean.

The one thing I missed was somewhere to dry laundry, but that’s my only downside. Otherwise, I had an incredible stay and will definitely return. As a woman travelling alone, I don’t always feel at ease straight away, but here I felt comfortable from the moment I arrived. The hostel is spotless, the beds are very comfortable, and the clean showers and cozy common area made it easy to unwind after a day out. One of Donostia’s best surfing beaches is just a short walk of two streets away. The volunteers and owner were always kind, helpful and welcoming. Greetings!
