Can Racó Ibiza

We had such a great time last Sunday, largely thanks to Julian. He was friendly, quick, and welcoming, and made us feel looked after, almost like family. He kept smiling, which can be hard in Ibiza in August. Raco is a lovely spot for a genuinely chilled Ibiza vibe, with a nice pool, good food, and music. We're going back this Sunday.

Raco is a hidden gem in Ibiza. We had an amazing first day there, with lovely owners and staff and great food. It had everything we wanted, and we'll definitely be back.

The servers were attentive, efficient, and wonderful, but one older barman completely ruined what had been a lovely day. After his outburst by the pool, people began leaving and the pool gradually emptied. I witnessed him, the owners' partner, acting rudely and arrogantly, seemingly trying to humiliate women using the facilities in front of everyone. It looked as though he preferred watching slimmer younger women in the pool and on the floating flower to doing his job. If you're a larger woman, forget it. He’s a disgrace to the place, and unfortunately, as the owner's partner, he seems likely to stay. The charges were also a problem: €10 just to use a lounger, plus a €50 minimum spend per person. None of that was mentioned when booking. The servers themselves were extremely helpful and attentive.

A friend who lives on the island introduced me to Raco, a hidden spot in the Ibiza countryside. It was just the nature-filled escape I needed, with flowers, trees everywhere, and lovely lounge and soulful non-commercial music. I loved the vintage feel and the details, from lights hanging in the palm trees to the swing and seesaw in the playground, table games like ping pong indoors, and wooden furniture throughout. Wherever you look, there are plants and flowers. The pool isn't huge, but seemed big enough for the guests, who were mostly couples. I was glad there weren't families with kids, so the calm wasn't disturbed. There's a massage service too, though I didn't try it this time and plan to next time. The food was delicious, and prices seemed normal. We spent €50 minimum, which included a sunbed and umbrella. The friendly staff and owner made my partner and me feel at home. The owner kept walking around, even picking up a single fallen leaf, and gave the place the feeling of a friend's house and garden, not a business. I loved being surrounded by greenery and seeing regular people rather than the showy, superficial crowd at fancy venues.
