Es Repos

Ibiza itself offered plenty to enjoy and made up for some disappointments. We explored the whole island, including markets, Evissa town, Es Vedra and lots of lovely bays and spots. We rented a car through huishurenibiza, which we needed, and the pickup was handled efficiently. At Ibiza airport there was no hassle, they knew your name and off you went. We stayed ten days with three adults at the end of October 2022, having booked the cottage through huishurenibiza. The photos looked beautiful, so, as often happens, the real place was a bit disappointing. The cottage is genuinely nice, and the owners have put effort into it and recently updated some things. The downstairs double bedroom has its own modern bathroom, but the shower water runs straight into the bedroom. Still, it was a wonderful shower. Upstairs are a single room, a double room and a lovely terrace where you can sit in the shade in the morning, look out to sea and watch the sunset later. There’s also a roof terrace, far too hot in summer but really nice. Downstairs, the living room has an old sofa, two chairs, a table with four chairs and a TV on a sideboard. The open kitchen is very well equipped, with everything you need. The garden is beautifully laid out, and the swimming pool is clean and lovely, though cold. It has three comfortable loungers. The seating didn’t match the lovely setup in the photos: there was a table with six stackable plastic chairs, plus a new pallet sofa that looked very Ibiza-style. Its cushions, unfortunately, were soaking wet and covered with mold and vermin. Mosquitoes were everywhere, and the pool pump was very noisy, so we didn’t spend our days at the cottage. No matter, Ibiza has lots to do. The surroundings let the place down. It’s tucked between other buildings, with a path leading to a securely locked gate. We contacted the local representative over WhatsApp. Street parking was available, with plenty of space in October. The beach bar 50 metres away was a ruin, and other nearby buildings were run-down, empty or undeveloped. Some building and renovation work was happening here and there, so maybe the neighbourhood will be in better shape in a few years. The beach nearby is narrow and clean, with shallow water that stays shallow for a long way. There was a small shop around the corner with limited goods, but it did have fresh bread every day, though it was a bit late in the season. For more to do, you have to head toward the harbour. San Antonio has a pleasant boulevard with lots of terraces. I thought the cottage was a bit expensive for what it offered. Next time we’ll choose somewhere else, even if it means paying a little more for a nice place.
