Hotel Tropical

You get a basic stay for the price. The main problem is the gym doesn't open until 10am, which is stupid. There's no way to go before breakfast, or only during the middle of the day? Apparently the manager won't open earlier despite lots of complaints. It feels like they just don't care.

The pool was nice, the food there was really good, and service was quick. Breakfast had a good choice too. The rooms smelled fresh, were very clean, and the aircon worked. I was pleasantly surprised because I hadn't expected much. The location is great; I thought it would be noisier at the top of the west end, but I didn't hear anything apart from people coming home at different times. Maybe bring earplugs if you're easily disturbed.

We came to see my daughter and found the hotel very welcoming and clean, with a very good breakfast selection. It's ideally located for our stay, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We absolutely adored Juan, the security guard, a lovely guy with a great sense of humour. Great value for money, and we'd definitely stay again.

The hotel is close to everything, and taxis are easy to find; it's also near the bus station. But I found the online photos a bit misleading. The rooms looked renovated in the pictures, while in person they still felt dated and needed modern lights and furniture. New tiles had been laid over the old ones in the hallway, so the doors were cut at the bottom to fit, leaving big gaps that let in light and noise. Sound was a problem for me. I could hear everything from three rooms down the hall.
