Sercotel Sant Boi

Pilar at reception gave us such a warm welcome. She was professional, friendly, always smiling, and very helpful. She left a really positive impression and deserves recognition for her effort. Thanks to her and the hotel management for a lovely stay. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and pleasantly located close to everything.

We chose this hotel for the night before an early flight, after spending the previous 6 days elsewhere in Barcelona. The staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke perfect English. The building feels dated and needs a lot of TLC. In our room the bathtub faucet barely worked, there was a musty smell until we aired it out through the windows, and a door stop in the middle of the bathroom floor was a literal toe-breaker. The internet was slow and weak, so we had to go down the hall to log on with the laptop. The soaps were overpoweringly perfumey, and the body lotion seemed rancid. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but not many, and they're a good 20 minute walk away. If the weather's good, that's an option. Otherwise you'd need a cab or food delivery. Breakfast was okay, a typical hotel buffet, nothing special. A microwave would help for people who don't like cold scrambled eggs and bacon, and it would be good to have at least a few spices available. You can take a bus back to the airport if you're willing to do that same 20 minute walk, and it's much cheaper than a cab. There's also a stop very close to the hotel, but it costs a bit more and you'd have to change buses once.

We booked because the Google reviews were positive, then headed to Barcelona for 3 days in January. We knew the hotel was outside the city and that was fine, though getting to the airport turned out to be less straightforward than we'd expected. We skipped breakfast, so I can't comment on it. The reception staff were kind and polite, but the smell when we entered the hotel was unpleasant. The sofa cover at reception was heavily stained, and the carpets on our floor were too. Our room was a big disappointment: peeling wallpaper, a strange and uncomfortable bed, dirty light switches, and a very outdated bathroom with rust, mold, and dirty walls. The TV was an old model, and we couldn't watch Netflix. The first night was a surprise 🙂 The walls were paper-thin, and we could literally hear everything, which was very uncomfortable. We brought earplugs the next day. The pillows were very comfortable, but I can't say much else was good. The place needs a thorough renovation and deep cleaning, especially the carpets and upholstery. I don't know what the nearby Ibis hotel is like, but this stay was a big disappointment.

The neighborhood was quiet, nice, and safe, and there was a bus stop right at the gate. Even without a car, you can get into town comfortably. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean, the interior throughout the hotel was outstanding, and the bed and ambient lighting made it feel cozy. The front desk staff were friendly and professional. For what we paid, Sercotel Sant Boi was an absolute gem. I was looking at Barcelona accommodation and could hardly swallow the prices of 100 and 150 euro or more. Some of the less-than-5-star reviews are hard for me to believe. Staying here was a winner, a totally flawless and seamless experience. Totally recommended!
